Ice skating on famous Bondi Beach

Sydney’s annual winter festival was looking for a crowd-puller and opted for an Ice-World ice rink of 900 m2 on famous Bondi Beach. Perfect for the active lifestyle Down Under. A wonderful but very challenging task due to the interplay of sand, sea and sunshine.

Thousands of enthusiastic Australians hit the ice - often for the very first time. An instant classic.

Particulars:

Levelling the beach with bulldozers to construct the wooden and metal foundation.
Perfect quality ice in all conditions: wind, sand, sunshine and high temperatures.
Quick and easy installation and dismantling of the fold-out aluminium components.
Rollout of Ice-World system with aluminium pipes containing coolant for rapid ice formation.
Use of cooling units powered by generators fuelled with soy-biodiesel.

Even with the exceptionally high winter temperatures of 18°C (64°F), the ice rink remained cool and icy. We were very satisfied with the Ice-World team’s professional support, before, during and after the event.

Ice rink in ‘the Dutch mountains’: Flevopolder

Ice rink in the Flevopolder countryside

A three-kilometre-long ice rink with 30,000 m2 of ice in the middle of the Flevopolder countryside at a temperature of 15°C? Ice-World did it for Flevonice. An unprecedented project set against the green backdrop of nature.

Records on speed skating rinks in the Netherlands

Speed skating competitions are a great spectacle. A gathering of recreational and competitive skaters resulting in new records and thousands of visitors. Two exclusive Ice-World speed skating projects.

In top three fastest speed skating rinks

Dutch speed skating professionals set new records during the Dutch Championships in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium on a temporary 400-metre speed skating rink created by Ice-World.

Particulars:

With a winning time of 0:36.36 over 500 metres, the track made it into the top three fastest speed skating rinks in the Netherlands.
Over 100,000 visitors enjoyed a fantastic ice fest.
Approved by the Royal Dutch Skating Federation (KNSB) and the International Skating Union (ISU).

Speed skating on empty hockey field

The idea: do more with empty sports fields during the winter. In Rotterdam, Ice-World transformed a hockey field into an indoor mobile speed skating rink. For an exceptional all-seasons skating experience.

The mobile ice system proved to be a perfect platform and allowed us to create a race track that meets the standards of an official ISU ice rink. I was also extremely satisfied with our collaboration and the knowledge and experience of the Ice-World team.

Ice Fun Park in the heart of Mexico City

Mexico City’s municipal council annually provides a unique ice skating experience for both residents and visitors. People are treated to 4,000 m2 of ice, skating paths, a thrilling 10-metre-high Fun Slide, 2,500 pairs of skates and 250 Bobby seals, Ice-World’s fun and friendly skating aid. The location? Historic Plaza Zócalo in the heart of the cosmopolitan metropolis.

The Ice Fun Park is a huge crowd-puller and an annual highlight. It was established by Ice-World in collaboration with Becar, our partner in Mexico.

Ice hockey tour across Australia

Teams from the National Hockey League (NHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL) faced each other in Australia's largest indoor arenas, with face-offs in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Over 70,000 spectators cheered the teams on from the stands during one of Australia's biggest sports events in recent years.
