Skating on green power

 As of 1 November, people on all continents will be able to skate thanks to Dutch wind power. A couple of wind turbines work for a full year to provide the energy for all of our ice rinks. You often hear claims that artificial ice rinks are gas guzzlers, but we try to do everything in a sustainable manner.
Doubts have also been expressed regarding whether our portable rinks really are up to 40 percent more economical than others. That's why we had TNO and TÜV carry out tests and calculations.
A study by TNO and its German counterpart TÜV reveals that Ice-World rinks are up to 40 percent more economical in terms of energy consumption than traditional ice rinks that use either rubber or polyethylene.
The mobile ice rink is more popular than ever, and the number of rentals is increasing every year. Although most rinks are situated in European countries, there is also interest outside that continent. For instance, we build artificial ice rinks in Mexico, Japan and America via our local dealers. Those rinks too are chilled using green electricity.

Unique ice rink in New York

 In December it will happen: Ice-World dealer Rink Management will open a 1500 m2 large ice rink in Manhattan. And, even more spectacular, a so called funtrack of 100 metres long with several bends will be attached to it. On the left you see the artist impression, in early December we show you the ice rink in its full glory.

 Największe wykonane kiedykolwiek plenerowe przedstawienie, największa liczba artystów (dokładnie 250 osób) i największa operacja logistyczna w świecie artystycznym. Nawet z Andre Rieu, którego przedstawienia są zawsze szlagierami, to jest większe i bardziej imponujące. André Rieu World Stadium Tour miał początek 14 Grudnia 2007 w Toronto Kanada. Potem wiele tysięcy widzów w Dusseldorf i Lipsku w Niemczech, Paryżu we Francji i Brukseli w Belgii z zapartym tchem oglądało przedstawienie, które nie ma równych. Tłem dla Word Stadium Tour jest słynny pałac Schonbrunn w Wiedniu, spopularyzowany przez film o cesarzowej Sisi. Mówimy tu o ogromnej dekoracji o 136 m długości, 34 m wysokości i 30 metrach głębokości. Inna ciekawa informacja, 250 techników pracuje bez przerwy 24 godziny, aby to ustawić i robią to pięć razy w czasie każdego turnee.

Holiday on Ice breaks a world record on ice from Ice-World

 A breathtaking finale: with unimaginable speed, the last skater, number 65, races by at the end of a long, rotating row of figure skaters. Applause from the spectators and the team - Holiday on Ice has done it! Sixty-five figure skaters have formed the world's largest human pinwheel. The world record was recognised by Guinness World RecordsTM. Olympic medallist Robin Cousins MBE initiated the world record attempt as part of Holiday on Ice's 65th anniversary.
So why was the number 65 chosen? Hendrik Jan de Mari, Managing Director of Holiday on Ice, proudly explains: "Holiday on Ice is celebrating this season because of its 65th anniversary, and naturally, because of the record of ‘Most watched ice show of all time'. With 320 million viewers, we are the most loved live entertainment production in the world, which means we must always keep the standard set high. As indeed we succeeded in doing!"
Ice-World built an enormous ice rink of more than 1,500 m² on the Lerchenberg in Mainz specially for this event. That is twice as large as one of Holiday on Ice's regular rinks.
Holiday on Ice decided to use ice made by Ice-World because Ice-World was able to install an ice rink within just a few days that complied with the strict requirements set by the world's leader in the ice entertainment industry: Holiday on Ice. |
