The Short Track ice rink

This Ice-World ice rink is excellent for short-track competitions organised on a 30- by 60-metre ice hockey rink. One lap is 111.12 metres long and the curves of the track are marked by seven rubber blocks. Due to the fact that the skaters all move across the same section of the track, particularly in the curves, it is inevitable that grooves start to appear on the ice. So to make sure that there is "fresh ice" for every run, both curves are positioned one metre further for each race, which means that the competitors do not have to skate on damaged ice. Another solution to this problem is to spray water on the track to fill up the grooves. Short track competitions are famous for spectacular inside or outside overtaking manoeuvres where skaters often place their hand on the ice for greater stability in the curves.

Like Ice-World's other ice rinks, the short track ice rink is powered by green energy generated by wind turbines.
