 2013 bandy ice rink sweden

An ice floor like a football field

Bandy is a sport very similar to ice hockey, but with some basic differences. Bandy is played on a large ice rink, and 11 players from each side may be on the ice. There is no play behind the goals, and the players use a curved stick to hit the ball. Matches are decided on goals scored. The Ice-World Bandy rink which is shown in this photo measures 70 x 110 metres, so as large as a football field. Bandy is extremely popular in the Skandinavian countries and Russia. The finals which were played in March 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden attracted almost 40.000 enthusiastic spectators.
