JohannesburgIce-World did a great job, working through the night with our crew to get the first ever outdoor ice rink in South Africa, frozen & perfect as quickly as possible. For sponsor, Virgin Mobile, the rink provided a fantastic & innovative talking point, publicity platform & giant billboard experience around their launch time in South Africa. 23 800 people came to skate with just under a million estimated spectators at rink-side over the time period. The venue, Nelson Mandela Square shopping centre & surrounding restaurants, was extremely happy with the positive effect experienced.
The rink was a drawcard during this winter period, with people coming out of their way to skate & watch: "We definitely need more of this! I want to thank you for an absolutely stunning rink at Nelson Mandela Square!"
