Every year, one European Member State is given the opportunity of presenting itself in the seat of the European Parliament, Strasbourg. This year, the Netherlands won the selection with Ice-World’s idea of an “orange skating rink” as the centre of a Dutch village. The ice really was orange, the national colour of celebration in the Netherlands. Ice-World installed a “foldout aluminium rink” in front of the cathedral.
It was the first of these patented skating rinks in France. Many newspapers, including the Algemeen Dagblad, reported on this unique orange skating rink. The Dutch Embassy in Paris had the whole thing very well organised. Cooperative efforts went smoothly. The final result was a picture of Holland and a series of happy faces. |
