Ice at high temperature in Portugal
An ice rink was set up in Lisbon for three months with the aim of testing the level of heat the rink could withstand and continue working. The maximum temperature was 27 degrees centigrade, where the ice was damp but could still be used for skating. Our partner in Portugal, Companhia d'Artes, turned it into a marvellous event. We will definitely also be there next season. |

Orange ice rink in Strassbourg
Last winter, we set up an aluminium ice rink in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg in collaboration with the Dutch national promotional agency. To turn it into something special, the layer of ice was sprayed with orange paint - the Dutch national colour. An orange ice rink is an unusual sight and the story appeared in many international newspapers.

A skating rink is a unique marketing instrument for creating a mood. Where mobile ice rinks are concerned, the Dutch manufacturer Ice-World can be seen as the great innovator. The fold-out aluminium ice rink is protected by an international patent and has since been at home on all markets. More (Dutch) RendEvenement 88, August 2005 www.rendevenement.be
A mobile skating rink gets a lot of publicity. On average there are around 10 to 15 articles in the (local) paper if a rink is put up somewhere. The (local) TV and radio also devote time to them, and rinks often have their own website. For links to websites of mobile skating rinks, click our references. Here you will find a selection of articles from various newspapers on Ice-World skating rinks (in Dutch). |
Eureka! But what then?

The new aluminium skating rink was immediately examined by the competition. Only by hiring an expensive lawyer was Wim Hoeks able to protect himself against violations of his patent rights, thereby ensuring that Ice-World is not driven from the market by cheap imitations. Algemeen Dagblad
The Netherlands leads the way in the field of mobile skating rink development. The rapidly growing company Ice-World has a patent on the mobile “quick-build rink” which can be assembled within two hours. The main difference from the old ice rink is that the rubber ice mats have been replaced by aluminium pipes. The aluminium ice rink system means it is now possible to skate at temperatures of up to +25°C instead of +15°C. More (Dutch) Algemeen Dagblad, 25 November 2004, www.ad.nl |
