During the winter months of 2006/2007, the International University of Breda carried out a study, commissioned by Ice-World, of the spending behaviour of visitors of ice rinks in 4 different countries (The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom). And the results showed: on an average, the presence of a mobile ice rink in a city results in an additional EUR 1.4 million being spent. An average of 50,000 people visited the ice rink. They each spent between EUR 21 and 35. Shopkeepers and hotels, restaurants and cafes in the vicinity of the ice rink are also very enthusiastic and are certainly in favour of the yearly return of the ice rink. A good reason, therefore, for municipalities to support initiatives for a mobile ice rink.
