Ice-World rink at Bondi beach AustraliaThere are few sights more incongruous than an ice rink smack in the middle of one of the world's most famous beaches.

But in Australia a 900 sq-metre Ice-World rink has been built on Bondi's famous sands as part of the area's winter festival, and is believed one of  the first ice skating venue on a beach anywhere in the world.

Of course this can only happen with an ice rink from Ice-Word, for even at high temperatures the ice rink stays cool and icy.

The largest action sports event ever to reach New Zealand was held in July 2011 when USA and Canada faced off in a three-game ice hockey exhibition series. In a first for New Zealand, Christchurch-based event management company Douglas Webber Group (DWG) brought teams from the USA and Canada to compete in an exhibition series in three main centres in July.

Each of three large-concert venues (Auckland's Vector Arena, CBS Canterbury Arena and Dunedin Stadium) was transformed into a temporary‘ house of hockey' .A portable hockey rink from Ice-World was transported from Europe. Ice-World erected  the NHL spec floor and dasher-board system in 2 days, and had just 48 hours to remove it after the event, before transporting it to the next venue.
Craig Douglas, the director of DWG, said they chose Ice-World because of their reputation on the world stage. "Ice-World is the only ice rink manufacturer in the world that is capable of installing an ice rink with real ice overnight".
The events were an enormous success and each one of them attracted ten thousands of enthusiastic visitors.
