The season of ice skating in Greece continues

The holiday season may have come to an end, but in Greece, the passion and ability to skate at several of the so-called "holiday ice installations," remains.
According to Ice-World dealer Onice.gr (www.onice.gr, +30-210.428.6750, +30-697.2004.826) the popular mobile ice skating rink installation company that has brought over 16 rinks to Greece and Cyprus just this past year, Greeks in many of the country's major cities will have the chance to test and improve their skating skill until Spring.
"We are delighted to announce that most of our "holiday" ice rink installations throughout Greece will remain open to the public way beyond the season," said Onice.gr CEO Christos Marakis. "This is what we anticipated and have worked hard for since bringing high-end mobile ice rinks to Greece. It is our mission to provide Greece high-quality "ice infrastructure" in the greater goal for young and old to embrace the experience ice skating, test and improve their skill, and begin to develop a fondness for the international sport and pastime."
2010 An Import Year for Ice Sports According to Marakis, 2010 is a landmark year for ice skating rinks, as Greece prepares to host the 2010 3rd Division World Championship of Ice Hockey in April. "It is key that the philosophy of ice rinks and the understanding of the sports associated with it get on the mindset of the Greek sport mentality. Despite it being a nontraditional Greek sport, Greeks as we are seeing more and more, seem to have a liking to it and actually do quite well on the ice." Marakis also made reference to the positive statement made by Adam Sollit, representative of the International Ice Hockey Federation, upon his on-site visit to the temporary Olympic-size ice rink that was installed by Onice.gr in Ano Liossia this past Spring for the 2009 Ice Hockey Championships. Sollit was quoted as having been impressed by the organization and passion of the players of Greece's seven Ice Hockey Teams.

As of 1 November, people on all continents will be able to skate thanks to Dutch wind power. A couple of wind turbines work for a full year to provide the energy for all of our ice rinks. You often hear claims that artificial ice rinks are gas guzzlers, but we try to do everything in a sustainable manner. Doubts have also been expressed regarding whether our portable rinks really are up to 40 percent more economical than others. That's why we had TNO and TÜV carry out tests and calculations. A study by TNO and its German counterpart TÜV reveals that Ice-World rinks are up to 40 percent more economical in terms of energy consumption than traditional ice rinks that use either rubber or polyethylene. The mobile ice rink is more popular than ever, and the number of rentals is increasing every year. Although most rinks are situated in European countries, there is also interest outside that continent. For instance, we build artificial ice rinks in Mexico, Japan and America, most of them via our local dealers.
